 1. Presumably, the scholars, Muslim scholars and even the non-Muslim intellectuals have known who the      Imam Abu Hamid Muhammad al-Ghazali, popularly known as reflecting the breadth and away he thought in the development of Islam, namely "Hujatul Islam".
Regardless of the attitude of the pros and cons of his mind, the scholars and the Muslim and non-Muslim scholars acknowledge the depth and height of his science. They acknowledge his scientific works in several branches of science. Note also that he was a thinker and filosufyang agumentatif in dialogue with the development of knowledge in his day. Although there while scientists who disagree, in halini for the scientific community is a natural thing, so it will be more extensive and evolving scientific knowledge and the horizon is never optimal to stop at a certain point. Especially if it involves empirical science is always influenced by the development of the situation and the environment as well as philosophy.
Some people accuse, that Imam Ghozali criticized philosophy and mysticism switched his concern. The accusation was probably because he was writing "Tahafutul-Falaasifah". Indeed, in this book he criticized the science and the views expressed above apologists carelessness certain philosophers in discussing things that are nothing to do with faith and theology, for example, about the science of God (the All-knowing) that by their global terms not explained in detail (bil ju-i). Here, in fact he is not anti-science philosophy itself, but the theories and conclusions of their philosophy. Instead he alone in analyzing the various sciences (Sufism and fiqh though) always use philosophy.
In fact, he recommends studying logic, syllogisms and analogies that have implications to the philosophy of science, while other scholars do not allow it. (to be continued)
